When Dhanusiya and Prabakaran dreamed of building a home of their own, they turned to Nanayasurabhi Affordable Housing Finance Limited (NHFL), a housing finance company based in Trichy. Their dream became a reality — but for millions of low-income families across India, home ownership still remains out of reach.

This film explores how NHFL, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Centre for Innovation in Shelter, is bridging the housing finance gap through a unique, community-led approach. At the heart of this model are Home Mitras — women from the community who guide families through the loan application and home-building journey.

More than loan facilitators, Home Mitras are designers, mentors, and motivators — empowering women and families with financial, legal, and construction knowledge. Together, they are proving that when knowledge meets financial support, dreams can take shape — brick by brick.
